In this comprehensive workshop, you'll learn:
Pre-session booking and client communication: Preparing parents for the session, setting clear expectations, and discussing standard industry pricing.
Lighting fundamentals and simple, consistent newborn setups: Choosing your strobes and diffusers, exploring different lighting approaches, and selecting the right lenses for newborn photography.
Safe newborn handling and foundational posing: Maintaining proper room temperature, using safe handling techniques, mastering basic poses, and selecting props for the safest and most efficient outcomes.
Session flow: Understanding pose order, smooth transitions, pacing, and efficiency to create a successful and versatile newborn session.
The workshop format includes approximately one hour of in-depth instruction, followed by a two-hour live newborn session demonstration. During the live session, attendees will observe rather than photograph themselves, allowing them to fully focus on watching lighting setups, safe posing techniques, smooth transitions, camera settings, and real-time decision-making. This observation-based approach encourages thoughtful note-taking and a deeper understanding of each step in the newborn session process.

For the past 15 years, she has worked exclusively in a studio setting, developing a strong specialization in controlled lighting, posing, efficient workflow, and consistent, high-quality portraiture.
Her work includes maternity, newborn, family, and children’s portraiture, and she is known for blending fine art principles with practical studio techniques to create heirloom-quality artwork. Francine places a strong emphasis on intentional lighting, thoughtful composition, and an elevated client experience.
As an educator and mentor, Francine is passionate about helping photographers refine their craft, define their niche, and build a cohesive studio brand.
